Completing the Stress Cycle
This month I’m sharing links to 3 podcasts that I just loved listening to and I hope you will also.
The first is timely, given the state of the nation today. It’s a podcast hosted by bestselling author, speaker and leadership consultant, Brene Brown. In this episode, she interviews Drs. Emily and Amelia Nagoski, authors of the new book, Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle. Brene Brown notes in her intro to the podcast:
Burnout. We’re all experiencing it and we’re all desperate for a way through it. In this episode, I talk to Drs. Emily and Amelia Nagoski about what causes burnout, what it does to our bodies, and how we can move through the emotional exhaustion. This has been a game-changer for me and for my family!
The book is primarily oriented toward women readers, but I found Brene’s interview of Emily and Amelia Nagoski to be fascinating and relevant to everyone as they discuss:
- What you can do to complete the biological stress cycle-and return your body to a state of relaxation
- How to manage the “monitor” in your brain that regulates the emotion of frustration
- Why rest, human connection, and befriending your inner critic are keys to recovering and preventing burnout
The second and third podcasts are from Dr. Peter Attia and Radio Lab, and they act as footnotes (pun intended) on last month’s newsletter, Feets of Strength. See the article below for descriptions and links to these podcasts.
May I suggest you listen to them on Tuesday, not in lieu of but a break from election coverage?
Finally, if you haven’t already, please do 2 things: vote; stay safe. To the second, see the article below on the benefits of mask wearing. 🙂
Best wishes to you and your family for a very Happy Thanksgiving,
