Practice Community News
We would like to recognize some important milestones for members of the Practice Community in September:
Dave Snow and his fiancee Rachel Vonderhuevel will be married on September 3rd in Kitty and Skip’s back yard, adjacent to the putting green. The ceremony will be officiated by Patrick Przyborowski, who, believe it or not, is a minister. Stay tuned for pics!
Julie Beyer (a wonderful Dayton painter who’s work you may have seen last year in Meadowlark) has been named the featured artist for the Ann Arbor Street Fair for 2012. Julie’s original artwork will be featured on the Street Art Fair merchandise next year, including the official poster for the event. Congrats, Julie!
A huge thank you goes to Carol Stadler, who is the first of our clients to pose for a photo while on vacation in her Practice Awareness Tee. As a bonus, she added a very nice Pilates Teaser pose while wearing hiking boots! We love it when members of our community are out in the world, sporting their Practice gang colors! In fact, we’re going to make the Practice Abroad Picture a monthly feature on the newsletter. Would you like to have your very own Practice tee for free? Here’s 2 ways to get one:
- Take a trip somewhere, and let us know that you would be willing to take a pic in a fun location (preferably not standing in front of a sign that gives away your location!) and submit it to us for the Practice Abroad feature in our newsletter. We’ll give you a tee to take with you on your trip.
- Be the first to figure out where the current Practitioner is in their photo. Reply by email to Patrick at email@example.com. The first correct respondent wins a free tee!
For this month’s feature: Do you know where Carol is? Here’s a hint: There is a super volcano parked under the park.
UPDATE: This Month’s winner is Natalie Rose, who, with blinding speed, replied correctly with “Yellowstone.” Congrats, Natalie!
Practice makes the DDN
Dayton Daily News reporter Robin McMacken, in her year long coverage of Healthy Living in the Miami Valley, interviewed Patrick for her August 15th article entitled, “Have ripped, fab abs: 6 steps to a sexier you.” What are these 6 steps, you ask? Click on the link to find out:

Research: The Effects of Exercise on Depression
From the New York Times’ “Well” column, check out this article on the effects of exercise on clinical depression when paired with medication:
Exercise for People Over 50
Debby Goldenberg was kind enough to bring this gem of an exercise to our attention. Take a look!
Each day you’ll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, 10 lb. potato bags
With a 5 lb. potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax.Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side.
Then try 25 lb. potato bags and then eventually get to where you can lift a 50 lb. potato bag in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute (I’m at this level)
After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each bag.
